Today's Dispatch: So This Is Christmas (Part 1)

Originally I set out to do my yearly review of the video for "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for this blog, but those plans were ruined after getting stuck inside a store that played a heinous cover version of the song on an endless loop. So, in the spirit of the holidays (and the mall-initiated brainwashing that comes with it - um, fiscal year spending, much?) I've decided to check out the holiday songs least likely to be played at the nearest mall's PA system any time soon.

First: "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues, featuring the late Kirsty MacColl. (Yes, I think that's Matt Dillon dragging Shane McGowan around in the beginning.)

And its spiritual twin, "A Snowflake Fell (And it Felt Like a Kiss)" by Glasvegas.

Plus:  "Christmas Wrapping," by The Waitresses.

More Christmas songs in the coming days.
